How to Get Notifications When Someone Is Released from a Kentucky Prison (VINE & Written Requests)

Need to know when someone's custody status changes in Kentucky? You have two main options: free VINE notifications and a written request through the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Here's how to set up both.

Register for custody and protective-order notifications through VINELink at VINELink.com. This is usually the fastest option if you want to track release-related changes. You can sign up directly and manage all your notifications from there.

  • VINE phone line: 1-800-511-1670
  • TTY (for people with hearing loss): 1-866-847-1298
  1. Write a request for release notification - Keep it straightforward and clearly ask to be notified in writing about the offender’s release.
  2. Add your contact information - Include your name, current mailing address, and phone number.
  3. Include the offender’s identifying details - List the offender’s name and institutional number (if known).
  4. Mail it to Kentucky DOC Victim Services Branch in Frankfort - Your request has to be mailed to the Victim Services Branch.

Victim Services contact: Call the Kentucky DOC Victim Line at 877-687-6818 or email VSB.help@ky.gov.

For the most coverage, register with VINELink and submit the Kentucky DOC written request. Keep the offender's institutional number handy. It makes registration and written requests easier, and helps ensure you're tracking the right person.
