Sending mail to your child at Lynchburg JDC: rules, supplied stamps, and why hand-delivered mail isn't accepted
Mail is one of the steadiest ways to stay connected while your child is at LRJDC. Here's what you need to know to make sure your letters actually get through.
Yes - children at LRJDC can send and receive mail, so you can write letters back and forth throughout their stay. Just make sure to put your child's name on the envelope. It sounds obvious, but that simple step helps staff route your mail to the right person.
Reminder: Always put your child’s name on the envelope when you send mail to LRJDC.
LRJDC provides basic mailing supplies so your child can stay in touch. Each week, they receive two stamps and two envelopes. Need to send more than that? A parent or guardian has to provide the extra supplies.
- ✓ Provide any additional correspondence materials your child needs beyond the two stamps and two envelopes per week.
All mail must go through the United States Postal Service. You can't drop off letters in person. If you try to hand-deliver mail, staff will refuse it - it won't get to your child.
Warning: Hand-delivered mail will not be accepted at LRJDC - send it through USPS.
Hoping to send something to read? LRJDC handles that through its own library, which is part of the school program. Your child can pick out books or magazines twice a week. Outside reading materials aren't accepted.
