Madison visiting rules: what physical contact is allowed (hugs) and what’s prohibited

Physical contact at Madison CI is limited to a brief hug at the start and end of an in-person visit. That's it - no touching during the visit itself. Kissing isn't allowed at any point, and neither is holding hands. Playing cards and similar activities are also prohibited. If you're currently under visiting restrictions or sanctions, you won't be permitted to visit at all.

The only physical contact Madison CI allows is a hug when you first greet your loved one and another when you say goodbye. Between those two moments? No touching. Think of it as a quick embrace - not something that lingers into the visit.

Madison CI holds video visits to the same standards as in-person visits. Sessions are monitored, recorded, and may be reviewed - and staff can end a video visit if they spot a rule violation. Don't assume video is more relaxed. Follow the same rules you would in the visiting room.

Video visitation kiosks are available to people in the general population in their housing units. Individuals in restrictive housing (segregation) are not permitted video visits.

Breaking the rules during a video visit can have real consequences. Staff may end your session immediately if they observe a violation, and you could lose visiting privileges going forward. And if you're already under visiting restrictions or sanctions, Madison CI won't allow you to visit at all.
