Manchester FCI Visiting Checklist: What to Bring, What to Leave & Dress Code
Visiting goes smoothly when you show up with the right basics—and leave the wrong items behind. Use this checklist to avoid getting turned away at the door.
1
- ✓ Weapons, explosives, or firearms
- ✓ Cameras of any type, recording equipment, phones, radios, pagers, or other electronic devices
- ✓ Currency (cash)
At check-in, you'll be asked whether you (or any children with you) have tobacco products, narcotics, explosives, weapons, cameras, radios, phones, or prescription drugs. Do a quick pocket-and-bag check before you head in. Nobody wants to be stuck at the entrance deciding what to do with a forgotten item.
Dress code trips up more visitors than you'd expect. At Manchester FCI, avoid anything that could be mistaken for inmate clothing - specifically khaki or green military-type clothing. Hats and caps aren't permitted in the visiting room either, so plan to remove them.
- ✓ Revealing shorts, halter tops, bathing suits, see-through garments, crop tops, or low-cut blouses/dresses
- ✓ Miniskirts; skirts or dresses that are two inches or more above the knee; dresses or skirts with a high-cut split (back, front, or side)
- ✓ Leotards, spandex, backless tops, or sleeveless garments
Carrying medication? Expect to declare it. The visitor checklist requires you to list all medications, and you'll need to leave them at the entry area. Staff will ask directly whether you have prescription drugs - along with tobacco, narcotics, explosives, weapons, cameras, radios, and phones. Don't tuck anything into a purse, diaper bag, or coat pocket hoping it won't come up. Sort it out before you reach the checkpoint.
Consent to search: Entering or attempting to enter Bureau grounds means you're consenting to be searched. Refuse, and you may be turned away.
