What You Can and Can't Bring Into a Visit at Marion C.I.

At Marion C.I., you can’t bring personal electronics into a visit. That includes items like smart watches, cell phones, and pagers - leave them at home or secured elsewhere before you arrive.

Personal bags aren't allowed either - no purses, handbags, or backpacks. Bring only what you can carry in your pockets, unless you're bringing approved infant items in a clear bag.

Quick tip: Leave your phone, smart watch, and bags in the car. If you show up with prohibited items, you'll have to take them back out before you can continue.

Visiting with a baby or toddler? Strollers aren't allowed inside. You'll need to carry little ones or use an infant carrier instead.

Infant carriers are allowed but will be searched at entry. Keep yours simple and easy to inspect - you don't want to hold up the line unpacking a bunch of extra stuff.

  • Use a clear bag if you’re bringing a diaper bag
  • Bring a reasonable number of diapers and baby wipes
  • You may bring up to three clear plastic baby bottles
  • You may bring up to three clear plastic containers of baby food
  • You may bring one pacifier (in the clear bag)

Marion C.I. allows essential medical equipment: oxygen tanks, heart monitors, wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and inhalers. Bring what you need - just be ready for normal screening at the entrance.

Pacemaker note: If you have a pacemaker, bring medical documentation with you. You’ll need it to support passage through the metal detector.

  1. Bring only what you must take during the visit - prescription medications are allowed, but only if they’re needed while you’re there.
  2. Present your medication at entry - don’t wait until you’re inside the visiting area.
  3. Have it logged at the officer’s desk - staff will log the medication as part of the entry process.

You can't hand anything directly to the person you're visiting. No packages, letters, money, or printed materials - everything has to go through the mail.

Want to add money to someone's account? Only approved visitors can deposit funds, and you have to use the approved ODRC process. Make sure you're on the visiting list first.
