Why You Can’t Call Into MCF‑Stillwater (and Options to Stay in Touch)
If you're trying to reach someone at MCF‑Stillwater by phone, the system doesn't work like a normal call. You can't call in to be connected. Here's why, and what you can do instead.
Phone calling at MCF‑Stillwater is strictly one-way. Only incarcerated people can place outgoing calls. You cannot call the facility and ask to be connected to your loved one. If you try, staff won't transfer your call. Having a plan for outgoing calls (and other ways to communicate) saves you the frustration of calling around with no result.
Reminder: Phone calls and video conversations are monitored or recorded by staff. Your loved one receives written notice of this, and a notice is posted by each telephone.
The Minnesota DOC requires a 15-minute interval between phone calls. The reason: it helps incarcerated people access phones without being exploited or pressured by members of security threat groups, and supports safer phone access overall.
What this means for you: back-to-back calling isn't always possible. If a call drops or ends, your loved one may need to wait before placing another one. Miss a call? It could be a bit before they can try again.
If lining up calls is tough, TextBehind can be a solid backup. You can create a TextBehind account and electronically send letters, photos, and greeting cards to your loved one.
