How to Visit Facility

You can post bond in person at the Hall of Justice, 600 W. Jefferson Street, Louisville, KY 40202.

Note: In-person payments for an inmate’s bond are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The location and 24/7 availability are confirmed. The rest? Not so much. Before you go, call ahead to verify what payment types they accept, whether you need specific ID or paperwork, where exactly to enter once you arrive, and if there are any screening requirements, parking issues, fees, or processing delays to plan for.

Steps to Follow

  • Go to the Hall of Justice at 600 W. Jefferson Street, Louisville, KY 40202
  • Post the inmate’s bond payment in person at that location
  • If timing is your concern, note that in-person bond payments are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

A quick phone call can save you a wasted trip. Ask which payment types are accepted (cash, card, money order). Find out what ID or documents you need to bring. Even though payments are accepted 24/7, there may be a specific window or counter you need to use. While you're at it, ask about parking, security screening, any fees, and how long processing typically takes once you've paid.

  1. Look up the official contact number on the government corrections or jail page for Metro Detention Center, then call to confirm the current bond-payment instructions.
  2. Check the official government website for updates right before you leave, especially on weekends or holidays when procedures sometimes change.
  3. If you still have questions, ask the court or booking staff (whichever is handling the case) to confirm what you need to bring and where you should go once you arrive.
