Video visit rules that can get you suspended at Miami County Jail
Video visits are a lifeline—but Miami County Jail can end a session or suspend your privileges if certain rules are broken. Here's how to avoid the most common mistakes.
All video visits at Miami County Jail are recorded and may be monitored. Because the jail already records everything, you're not allowed to make your own copy. Using extra cameras, video devices, or any recording equipment - whether you're visiting on-site or remotely - can get your visit shut down. If staff believe you violated these rules, they can terminate the session and suspend or deny your video visitation privileges.
Warning: Don’t record the screen, don’t set up a second device, and don’t use any extra camera or recording equipment - on-site or off-site - before, during, or after the video visit.
Show up sober. If staff believe you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you won't be allowed to complete your video visit. The same applies if you consume anything during the session. Any rule violation can result in the visit being terminated - or your privileges suspended.
Note: There is no smoking by visitors during visitation.
Nudity and sexual conduct are strictly prohibited during video visits. The jail treats this as a serious violation - expect to lose or have your visitation privileges suspended. Staff can terminate any visit and suspend or deny future privileges when rules are broken.
Note: Loud talking, excessive emotionalism, or other disruptive behavior can also get your video visit ended early.
What you wear matters. Staff can deny your video visit if your clothing is inappropriate. Examples that will get you turned away: see-through clothing, low-cut tops that expose your chest, and anything that shows your undergarments. Even with proper attire, keep your tone controlled. Disruptive behavior can end a visit early, and repeated violations can lead to suspended privileges.
- ✓ Dress in clothing that won’t be considered inappropriate (avoid see-through garments, low-cut tops that expose the chest, and anything that inappropriately exposes undergarments).
- ✓ Don’t bring property to pass to the inmate - no property will be accepted during visitation.
- ✓ If you’re doing on-site video visitation, keep the group size to four people max (including children).
- ✓ If you’re visiting on-site, plan around the limit of one 30-minute on-site video visit per week.
Reminder: Don’t attempt to drop off or hand over items during visitation - no property is accepted, and rule violations can lead to visits being terminated or privileges being suspended.
