Video Visit Costs at MSDF: Free vs Paid Visits Explained

At MSDF, additional video visits cost $2.50 per visit. This pricing has been in effect since June 19, 2023.

Each PIOC at MSDF continues to receive one free video visit per week. The key detail is that this free visit is included as part of the weekly visit opportunities - it isn’t an extra visit added on top.

MSDF’s video visit setup allows up to three video visits per day, seven days a week, based on schedule and availability. Over a full week, that works out to 21 visit opportunities, and the “one free visit” for the week uses one of those opportunities. Since visits run in short blocks (about 25–26 minutes), you can think of the free visit as covering one regular time slot during the week; any other slots you book beyond that free one would be paid at the per-visit rate.

At MSDF, the person in custody is eligible for three (3) twenty-six-minute video visits each day, seven days per week. That availability is tied to the facility’s schedule and whether video units are available, so the practical limit depends on what openings you can actually book.

Video visit time slots are approximately 25–26 minutes in length. That lines up with the daily allowance MSDF describes - short, structured appointments that make it possible to fit multiple visits into the day when there’s availability.
