Before Your First Visit to Moberly Correctional Center: A Complete Approval Checklist

Before starting your application, confirm the person you want to visit is currently under Missouri Department of Corrections supervision and housed at Moberly Correctional Center. Missouri's Offender Web Search is the quickest way to verify this - it's designed specifically to look up offenders supervised by Missouri DOC. One more thing to keep in mind: you must be pre-approved to visit, and the application includes a criminal history check. Take a few minutes to confirm the basics before you submit.

Missouri DOC allows several categories of people to apply for visiting privileges: immediate family (spouse, legal guardian, parents, in-laws, siblings, children, grandparents), extended family (uncles, aunts, cousins), significant others, friends, and clergy. If you fit one of these categories, you're eligible to move forward with the application.

Before Your First Visit to Moberly Correctional Center: A Complete Approval Checklist
  1. Enter the offender’s ID number first - the online visitor application starts by asking for the offender’s ID number, so have it in front of you before you begin.
  • Complete every field marked with an asterisk (*) - those are required fields.
  • In the required fields, agree to comply with all visiting regulations, including search.

For minor children: On the application, choose “other” for Identification Type and enter “NA” for the Identification Number.

Submitting is straightforward: click "Finish" and the system electronically sends your completed application to the institutional case manager. Until you hit that button, the facility won't receive anything to review.

Missouri DOC runs a criminal history check as part of the pre-approval process. Fill out the application thoroughly and honestly - don't leave things out or guess. The information you provide directly affects the decision on your visiting privileges.

If your application is denied, you have 30 days to appeal. Send your appeal letter to: Missouri Department of Corrections, Attn: Deputy Division Director of Adult Institutions, 2729 Plaza Drive, PO Box 236, Jefferson City, MO 65102. Double-check the mailing details before sending, especially if you're close to the deadline. You can also reapply for visiting status after one year.

Once you submit the online application and click “Finish,” it is electronically sent to the institutional case manager for processing.

After a decision is made, the offender gets notified of your approval. They're responsible for letting you know - so expect confirmation to come through your loved one rather than directly to you.
