5 Mail Rules That Will Get Your Letter Rejected at Mohave County Jail
Send a letter that breaks Mohave County Jail's mail rules, and it comes right back to you. Your loved one never sees it. The jail scans all regular mail and enforces strict guidelines, so use these five rules as a checklist before you seal the envelope.
Keep your letter to five pages or fewer. Mohave County Jail caps each mailing at five pages. Send more than that, and the extra pages won't be scanned. The whole mailing gets returned.
- ✓ Count the pages before you mail it, and keep it at 5 or fewer.
- ✓ If you have more to say, split it into multiple mailings instead of adding a 6th page.
- ✓ Remember that “extras” you tuck in still count as pages if they’re paper.
Use standard letter-size paper. The jail only accepts pages that fit within 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Oversized sheets, cardstock, or anything bigger will get your mail rejected during processing.
Write on one side of the paper only. The scanning system captures the front side, nothing else. Anything on the back won't be delivered, and your letter could be returned.
Don’t use the back of the page: Even a short note on the back can be enough to trigger a return.
Include one photo max. Mohave County Jail allows a single photo per mailing. Send two or more, and the entire letter comes back. Nothing gets scanned or delivered.
Don't send publications or packages to the central PO Box. Magazines, newspapers, bulk mail, and books aren't accepted at PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606. They'll be returned. If those items are allowed at all, send them directly to the facility where the inmate is housed, following Mohave County Sheriff's Office mail guidelines.
Legal mail has its own rules, and the details matter. Incoming legal mail must use metered or pre-printed postage, and contents must be loose paper only. No staples, paper clips, or binders. If you fasten documents in any way, staff will remove them.
