Sending Care Packages to People at MRDCC: How Access Securepak Ordering, Limits, and Taxes Work

Maryland requires all MRDCC care packages to go through Access Securepak. This keeps contraband out and reduces the staff time needed to screen outside packages. You won't ship items directly to the facility - instead, you order from Access Securepak's catalog. There's a $100 per-quarter product cap, which controls how much merchandise any one person can receive.

The fastest way to order is online at marylandpackage.com. That's Access Securepak's ordering site for Maryland facilities, including MRDCC. Build your package, check out, and you're done.

Each person at MRDCC can receive up to $100 in products per quarter through Access Securepak. That's the product total only - shipping and fees don't count toward the cap. Keep an eye on your cart as you shop.

You can place multiple orders in a quarter, but Access Securepak consolidates them. The combined product total still can't exceed $100. If other family members are also ordering, coordinate ahead of time so you don't accidentally hit the cap.

Your final total will likely be higher than the product subtotal. MRDCC packages include a 6% sales tax on hygiene items, candy, and processing fees. Factor that in when budgeting.
