Where to Mail Money Orders for Someone at MRDCC (Lockbox address & how to fill the money order)

Maryland DPSCS routes all mailed deposits through a central Lockbox so funds can be processed efficiently and credited to the right person's account. When you send a money order, the information you write on it is what connects the payment to your loved one. The goal is straightforward: clear, accurate details so the deposit posts without holdups.

Mail Lockbox money orders to: P.O. Box 17111 Baltimore, MD 21297-0382

How to Fill

  • Make the money order payable to the incarcerated individual (use their name exactly as it’s recorded - no aka’s or nicknames)
  • Write the incarcerated individual’s full name clearly
  • Add the facility name (MRDCC / Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification)
  • Include the incarcerated individual’s State Identification (SID) number
  • Include your name and return address
  • Print neatly using black or blue ink only

Note: Missing or incorrect name/SID details can delay the deposit. Keep your money order receipt (or transaction/receipt number) so you can track it if there’s a problem.

With correct information, funds typically post 2–7 business days after the Lockbox receives and processes the money order. Add mail delivery time, and you're looking at roughly 10 days total. If your money order shows as cashed but the balance hasn't appeared yet, contact the money order company or issuing bank first to get the exact date it was cashed.
