How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at Multi County Jail (TouchPay), and What Happens to Balances

Anyone can put money on an inmate's account at Multi County Jail (MCCC). You don't need to be a family member or on an approved list - if you want to help someone buy commissary items or cover other charges, you can make a deposit.

The fastest option is TouchPay online at www.touchpaydirect.com, available 24/7. You can pay with Visa/MasterCard, a debit card, or an electronic check. TouchPay charges a convenience fee, so your total will be a bit higher than the deposit amount.

Prefer the phone? Call TouchPay's toll-free line at 1-866-232-1899 anytime. Automated prompts walk you through the process - you'll need a Visa/MasterCard (credit or debit) or your checking account info. A convenience fee applies here too.

Going in person? There's a TouchPay kiosk in the MCCC lobby that accepts cash or card. Expect a convenience fee for using the kiosk as well.

Required Info

  • Inmate’s first and last name
  • Inmate ID number
  • Facility Locator No. 243301 (required for TouchPay online and kiosk deposits)

Deposits aren't instant. At MCCC, TouchPay transactions post on the next business day - that's when the inmate can actually use the funds.

Always save your proof of payment. TouchPay gives you a confirmation number for phone and online transactions, and you can get an email receipt if you enter your email address. If there's ever a dispute about whether a deposit went through, that confirmation number is what you'll need.

Balances can drop unexpectedly due to medical co-pays. At MCCC, these charges are deducted at the time of service. If there's not enough money in the account, it goes negative and stays that way until someone adds funds.

Planning for release or a transfer? Any money left in the commissary account gets applied to "Pay-for-stay" fees when the inmate leaves.

Inmates buy calling cards through commissary for $12.78 each. They can order up to six per week, and these purchases don't count against the weekly spending limit.
