How to Register for VINE Alerts and Manage Notifications (phone, email, multiple numbers)
Trying to track someone's custody status without constantly refreshing pages or waiting on callbacks? VINE handles that for you. Here's how to register and a few details—like PINs and middle-of-the-night calls—that catch people off guard.
VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is an automated service that tracks custody status and sends you alerts. For county jails, it covers events like release, transfer, escape, and death. No more refreshing pages or waiting for someone to call you back.
Whether you're a family member trying to plan next steps or a victim who needs timely safety updates, having those alerts come directly to you makes a stressful situation easier to manage.
- Register by phone - Call 1-800-770-0192 and follow the prompts to access custody information and sign up for notifications.
- Use the TTY line if you need it - TTY users can call 1-866-847-1298.
- Register online - You can also access custody information and register at vinelink.com.
- Register on your phone with the app - Download the VINEmobile app and follow the in-app steps to set up alerts.
TTY: If you use a TTY device, call 1-866-847-1298 for VINE.
Phone, website, or app - they all get you the same custody information and notifications. Pick whichever you'll actually use. The app is handy for alerts on the go. Prefer to handle everything by phone? That works too.
When you register a phone number, you'll create a four-digit PIN. That's what you enter to confirm you received the alert when VINE calls. Email-only users don't need a PIN.
- ✓ Call 1-800-770-0192 and press zero to reach a VINE service representative.
- ✓ If you’re trying to fix a registration issue or recover access, VINE service representatives are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
VINE doesn't call once and move on. If you miss the notification, it leaves a voicemail and keeps trying until you enter your PIN - or until 48 hours pass. And yes, those calls can come at 3 a.m. if that's when the custody change happens.
Tip: VINE may call in the middle of the night and will keep calling until you enter your PIN (or until 48 hours pass). Register a phone that can reliably receive calls and voicemail.
You can register more than one contact method. VINE lets you add multiple phone numbers and email addresses - useful if you want alerts at work and at home, or if you want a backup person to get them too.
- ✓ Don’t register a phone number that rings to a switchboard.
- ✓ Set up a “primary” number you can answer quickly, then add a backup phone number and/or email address so you still get the alert if you miss the first call.
- Call the VINE toll-free line - Dial 1-800-770-0192.
- Ask for help from a representative - Press zero to reach a VINE service representative for PIN help.
