Napa Corrections visitation: schedule, 30-minute sign-up rule, two-visit limit, and where to go

Napa Corrections runs two in-person visitation blocks each day: morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each block has a hard sign-up cutoff - 9:30 a.m. for morning, 4:00 p.m. for afternoon. Walk in after that, and you won't get on the list. There's also a midday lockdown from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., so factor that gap into your travel plans.

  • Morning visitation: 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (last sign-up 9:30 a.m.)
  • Afternoon visitation: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (last sign-up 4:00 p.m.)

You need to complete sign-up at least 30 minutes before your scheduled visit time. That means arriving earlier than the session start - you need buffer to get through the sign-up process before the cutoff hits. Show up too close to the window and you can lose the visit entirely, even if the session is still running.

Heads up: Last sign-up is 9:30 a.m. for the morning block and 4:00 p.m. for the afternoon block. Combine those cutoffs with the 30-minute sign-up rule - don't get caught in line when sign-ups close.

Each inmate can receive up to two visits per week, and each visit lasts 30 minutes. If multiple family members want to visit, coordinate ahead of time. You don't want someone traveling in only to find out both visits were already used earlier in the week.

  1. Talk as a group before anyone goes - since each inmate gets two 30-minute visits per week, decide who will use those visits.
  2. Pick your two visit days intentionally - spread visits out if that helps your loved one, instead of stacking them back-to-back.
  3. Keep a simple record - write down the date and who visited so you don’t lose a trip to an avoidable mix-up.

Finding the right entrance matters, especially on your first visit. For South Jail visitation, head to the South Jail 2nd floor West Entrance. Housing locations for visitation include 112 Module, 319 Module, Men's West, Men's East, 226B Module, and 105, plus North Jail 3rd floor Lobby Elevator and the ground floor tanks (Tanks 1–3, 4–6, 8 & 10, and Tank 7/Medical Cells). Not sure where your person is housed? Confirm their housing location before you leave home so you go to the correct entrance.

  • South Jail visitation entrance: South Jail 2nd floor West Entrance
  • Housing locations listed on the notice: 112 Module; 319 Module; Men’s West; Men’s East; 226B Module; 105

Even when you follow the schedule and arrive on time, visits can still be canceled based on facility needs. It's frustrating - especially if you've taken time off work or traveled a long way - but it's part of the rules. Build in a little flexibility when you plan.

  1. Build in a backup plan for the day - since visits can be cancelled based on facility needs, avoid making the visit your only time-sensitive commitment.
  2. Confirm details as close to the visit as you can - before you travel, double-check the schedule and your person’s housing location so you’re heading to the right place.
  3. If you’re turned away, pivot to the next available block/day - use the two daily visitation blocks (morning or afternoon) to re-plan your trip when possible.
