Paying Bond at Nassau County Jail: What Forms of Payment They Actually Accept
Bond payment rules are strict, and showing up with the wrong form of payment means a wasted trip. Here's what Nassau County Jail actually accepts for cash bonds and purge amounts—plus who each payment must be made out to.
Paying a cash bond? Bring the full amount to the jail's public reception area. They accept certified checks or cashier's checks (drawn on a local bank and subject to verification) and money orders. Cash and credit cards won't work for bond payments - plan ahead.

- ✓ Money order
- ✓ Cash is not accepted
- ✓ Credit cards are not accepted
Make your certified check, cashier's check, or money order payable to the Nassau County Clerk of Courts. Get the payee line wrong, and you'll be turned away - meaning another trip to get a new payment.
Can't cover the full cash bond? A bonding (surety) agency can post a surety bond on your behalf instead. This goes through the agency directly - it's not a cash payment you bring to the jail yourself.
Note: To start a surety bond, you’ll need to contact a bonding agency directly. Deputies aren’t allowed to advise you on which agency to choose.
- Contact a bonding agency - Tell them you need a surety bond posted for someone at Nassau County Jail.
- Have the agency post the surety bond - The bonding agency handles the arrangements to post the bond.
- Wait for release processing - Once the surety bond is in place, release happens according to the bond terms and the jail’s processing.
Some people are held on a civil writ with a judge-ordered purge amount. To secure release, that purge must be paid at the jail's public reception area.
