Connecticut DOC Video Visits: Free Microsoft Teams Visits — How to Schedule and Join
Connecticut DOC video visits are completely free. You won't pay a dime to connect - but you still need to follow the scheduling process and wait for facility confirmation before counting on the visit happening.
Device Requirements
- ✓ A smartphone that can access Microsoft Teams
- ✓ A tablet that can access Microsoft Teams
- ✓ A laptop that can access Microsoft Teams
- ✓ Working video and audio (camera + microphone) on the device you’ll use
The setup is straightforward: you need a device that runs Microsoft Teams. A smartphone, tablet, or laptop all work fine, as long as your camera and microphone function properly so staff can see and hear you during the call.
You'll need a working email address to schedule your visit. Use one you check regularly - that's where your visit details will land.
Note: Your video visit is not scheduled until you receive confirmation from the facility.
Up to three authorized adult visitors can join a video visit. Everyone must be listed on the Visit Request Form - if someone's name isn't on there, they can't participate as an authorized visitor.
Rules for kids and teens differ from adults. Youth living in the household don't count toward the three-visitor limit, but any minor must have a parent or guardian present. One exception: minors cannot participate if they're considered a victim or if there's an active protective order involving the incarcerated person.
Recording rules: All video visits are recorded by facility staff only, and you’re not allowed to record the visit yourself on any personal device.
Just because you're at home doesn't mean anything goes. Connecticut DOC expects the same conduct and dress code standards as an in-person visit.
