Sending Money to Someone in a Connecticut DOC Facility (You Don't Need to Be on the Visitor List)
You can send money to someone in a Connecticut Department of Correction (DOC) facility even if you're not on their approved visitor list. Here are the two options available, plus mailing details and timing expectations.
You don't need to be on someone's approved visitor list to put money on their account. Connecticut DOC allows funds to be sent by mailing a money order or by making an electronic deposit. Either way, you can help with commissary and other account needs without being approved to visit.
Mailing a money order? Include the Connecticut DOC Inmate Trust Fund Remitter Form with your payment. Write the inmate's full name and correctional identification number clearly on the money order itself - the DOC requires both.
- ✓ Include a completed Inmate Trust Fund Remitter Form with the money order
- ✓ Make sure the money order has the inmate’s full name and correctional identification number
- ✓ Mail to: Inmate Trust Fund, P.O. Box 290800, Wethersfield, CT 06129-0800
Plan ahead if you're mailing a money order. Connecticut DOC advises allowing at least 10 working days for the funds to post to an inmate's account.
Questions about a deposit? Call 860-692-7670.
Electronic deposits are another option, and you still don't need to be on the visiting list. Since approved payment companies and instructions can change, check the same DOC resources that cover the Inmate Trust Fund Remitter Form - or call 860-692-7670 - to confirm the current process.
