Setting Up Free Video Visits at New Haven Correctional Center

You'll need Microsoft Teams on a device with a working camera and microphone. A smartphone, laptop, or tablet all work fine.

Connecticut DOC video visits are completely free. No fees, no hidden costs.

You'll need a valid email address - that's how visit details arrive. One thing to know: submitting a request doesn't mean you're booked. Your video visit isn't scheduled until the facility sends confirmation.

Up to three authorized adults can join each video visit. All three must be listed on the Visit Request Form. Kids living in the household don't count toward that limit, but make sure the adults who plan to participate are the ones you include on your request.

Join at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. Staff use that window for screening and verification. Show up late and your visit may be cut short - or canceled entirely if the schedule is tight.

1. Use a Teams-capable device - Join from a smartphone, laptop, or tablet that supports Microsoft Teams.
2. Confirm video and audio work - Make sure your camera and microphone are available on that device so you can be seen and heard.
3. Open Teams before your visit time - Getting into the app early gives you time to fix settings without cutting into your visit.

No confirmation? Follow up with the facility. Until you receive that confirmation, your visit isn't on the calendar. Double-check that your email address is correct - if nothing shows up in your inbox, that's usually the culprit.
