Bringing Children to Visit Someone at Northpoint: Rules and Required Paperwork

2 min read Verified from official sources

Children under 18 can only visit Northpoint if they're approved and listed on the inmate's visiting list. Show up with a child who isn't on that list, and you'll be turned away, no matter how far you've traveled.

Approved children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. That adult needs to be present for the entire visit, starting at check-in.

Northpoint does allow another immediate family member to bring the child instead of a parent or guardian, but only with written parental or guardian approval. So who's bringing the child matters just as much as whether the child is on the visiting list.

When someone other than a parent or legal guardian brings the child, Northpoint requires a notarized consent letter from the parent or guardian. The accompanying family member must present this document to the visiting officer during registration.

Every visitor must complete a visiting information form and mail it to the Warden's office before any visit. Your child needs to be added through this approved visiting list process before you try to schedule or show up.

Practical Checklist

  • Confirm the child is approved and included on the inmate’s visiting list before you go.
  • Complete the visiting information form and mail it to the Warden’s office before any visit is allowed.
  • If the child is coming with an immediate family member who is not the parent or guardian, bring written, signed, notarized consent from the parent or guardian.
  • If you are 18 or older, bring proper photo identification.
  • If you must carry medication, keep it in an authorized container.

Reminder: Adults (18+) need a valid photo ID to enter. Any medication you bring must be in an authorized container.
