Bringing Your Baby to Visit Ohio Reformatory: What’s Allowed in the Diaper Bag

Heads up: Everyone entering an ODRC facility gets searched - including anything you bring in for your baby.

Use a clear bag as your diaper bag. Keep baby supplies in clear containers or packaging so staff can see everything at a glance during inspection. This is the easiest way to avoid hold-ups at the door.

Allowed Items Quantities

  • Diapers - a reasonable number
  • Baby wipes - permitted; keep them in a clear bag or clear container
  • Baby bottles - up to three, and they must be clear plastic
  • Baby food - up to three clear plastic containers

You can bring one pacifier. Put it where it’s easy to spot in your clear bag so it doesn’t slow down the search.

  1. Pack everything into a clear diaper bag - use clear containers for wipes, bottles, and baby food so staff can quickly confirm what you brought.
  2. Plan for your bag to be inspected - all visitors (and their belongings) are subject to search, so keep your baby items organized and easy to show.

Before you leave home, think through what your baby will actually need during the visit. Don't overpack. Stick to allowed items and quantities, and keep everything visible - extra stuff can slow you down at the entrance.

  • Use clear plastic bottles (maximum of three)
  • Use clear plastic containers for baby food (maximum of three)
  • Keep wipes in a clear bag or clear container
  • Bring only a reasonable number of diapers
