Sending Money to Someone at Pamlico: Options, Fees, and What to Do When Deposits Fail
If your loved one is at Pamlico Correctional Institution, deposits go through the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction's (NCDAC) money services partner. Here's what you can use, what it costs, and what to do if your money doesn't show up.
NCDAC partners with ViaPath and its subsidiaries (TouchPay and ConnectNetwork) to process deposits for people in prison, including Pamlico. That's why you'll see the same deposit options at every facility: web, mobile, phone, and walk-in.
Most electronic and in-person deposits post quickly. Web, mobile, phone, and walk-in payments are generally available in the incarcerated person's account by the next business day.
To send money online, head to ConnectNetwork's website. You can pay with a credit or debit card and select the person you're sending funds to during checkout.
The ConnectNetwork mobile app lets you send money from your phone. It's available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, handy if you need to deposit while you're away from a computer.
Quick timing note: ConnectNetwork deposits (online or app) typically post by the next business day.
Prefer cash? You can deposit through Western Union. Visit any Western Union location and use the payment code NCDAC TRUST.
Money orders work too, but they have to be prepared exactly the way NCDAC requires. Make the money order payable to TouchPay and mail it with a deposit slip to: TouchPay Holdings, LLC, PO Box 174, Houston, TX 77001-0174.
Mailed money orders take longer. TouchPay says funds will be available within ten business days, though they try to post sooner when possible.
Fees vary by deposit method and amount. NCDAC's fee schedule (updated August 1, 2023) shows different pricing tiers, so check the current rates for your chosen method before you pay.
Timing is the biggest difference between methods. Web, mobile, phone, and walk-in deposits usually post the next business day. Mailed money orders can take up to ten business days, though TouchPay tries to post them sooner when they can.
- Find your receipt or confirmation - If you paid online, in an app, by phone, or through a walk-in option, pull up the confirmation so you have the transaction details in front of you.
- Give it one full business day - For web, mobile, phone, and walk-in deposits, NCDAC’s guidance is that funds are available the next business day, so wait through that window before assuming it failed.
- Call for deposit help if it still has not posted - If you are past the next business day and the funds still are not available, contact ViaPath support for troubleshooting.
Deposit help line: ViaPath toll-free assistance is 877-650-4249.
- ✓ Confirm you are listed as the incarcerated person’s approved visitor. Only approved visitors are permitted to deposit funds to that person’s account.
