Before You Apply to Visit Someone at ASPC Perryville — San Carlos Unit: A Checklist

Wait until the person you want to visit has finished intake before submitting your application. Arizona DOC advises against applying while the inmate is still in the intake process at Alhambra or Perryville. Apply too early and your paperwork sits in limbo, costing you time.

Fill out every field on the application before you submit. A single blank required field can stall processing or stop it entirely. Take an extra minute to double-check your entries so the form is complete and accurate the first time.

Adults applying for in-person visits, phone privileges (as part of in-person/phone), or video visits must pay a one-time, non-refundable $25 background check fee. This payment has to be made electronically. You cannot mail in or drop off cash or a money order for this fee.

Once you submit your application, you have a firm 30-day window to turn in everything else. Background check fees and any required supporting documents must be received within 30 days of the application date. Miss that deadline and your application is considered incomplete and will not be processed.

Build in time for review on the back end. Arizona DOC asks you to allow up to 60 days for processing once payment (if applicable) and supporting documents are received.

Only want to receive phone calls? The $25 background check fee does not apply to phone-only applicants. You still need to complete the regular application process for phone privileges, so do not skip the paperwork just because the fee is waived.
