Pickaway Mail Change (May 2024): New OMPC Address, Exceptions, and Who to Contact

1 min read Verified from official sources

Starting May 1, 2024, personal letters and cards for someone at Pickaway Correctional Institution no longer go directly to the prison. Instead, all personal mail must be sent to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) Mail Processing Center (OMPC) in Youngstown, Ohio.

Use this address for personal correspondence (letters and cards). Be sure to include the incarcerated person's full name and R/A number exactly as it appears in ODRC records: Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Mail Processing Center (OMPC) 884 Coitsville-Hubbard Road Youngstown, Ohio 44505

If you accidentally send a letter or card to Pickaway's old mailing address, it will get forwarded to the OMPC. The catch? Forwarding adds extra handling time, which means your loved one gets it later than they should.

Tip: For the fastest delivery, send letters and cards directly to the OMPC address instead of using the old Pickaway address.

Exceptions

  • Legal mail
  • Business correspondence
  • Printed materials (magazines, newspapers, books)

Legal mail is handled differently. The OMPC change only applies to personal correspondence. Legal mail is not routed through the processing center.

Got questions about the OMPC mail change or not sure where to send something? Contact the OMPC at ODRCMailProcessingCenter@drc.ohio.gov or call 1-330-333-7372.
