Mailing Letters to Piedmont Correctional: The TextBehind Address Format You Must Use

If your loved one is at Piedmont Correctional, your mail won't go directly to the prison. Instead, you'll address it to TextBehind using a specific format. They screen and scan it, then deliver it electronically to the person's tablet.

Mailing Letters to Piedmont Correctional: The TextBehind Address Format You Must Use

All non-legal mail for NCDAC facilities - including Piedmont Correctional - goes through TextBehind. They screen and scan your letter, then deliver the scanned images to the person's tablet. No paper mail reaches them directly.

Tip: Skip the stamps entirely. TextBehind has an app and website where you can send letters and photos directly from your phone or computer.

Mailing Letters to Piedmont Correctional: The TextBehind Address Format You Must Use

Line 1: Write the person's full name followed by their OPUS number. TextBehind uses this line to match your mail to the right person, so don't skip the number.

Line 2: Write out the full prison name - no abbreviations. For this facility, that's "Piedmont Correctional."

Line 3: Use TextBehind's mailing address: P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Your complete address block should look like this: the person's name and OPUS number on line 1, the prison name on line 2, and the Maryland P.O. Box on line 3.

  • John Doe #1234567\n Piedmont Correctional\n P.O. Box 247\n Phoenix, MD 21131\n- Jane Doe #7654321\n Piedmont Correctional\n P.O. Box 247\n Phoenix, MD 21131\n- Alex Smith #2468101\n Piedmont Correctional\n P.O. Box 247\n Phoenix, MD 21131

Your return address matters too. TextBehind requires your full first and last name - no initials allowed.

Important: Mail that doesn't follow the TextBehind format - or uses initials instead of your full name - gets returned to you.

  1. Email TextBehind within 30 days - Send your request to info@textbehind.com and ask for the original letter and contents to be returned.
  2. Include identifying details - Provide enough information for them to locate the item (your name, the date on the envelope, and the incarcerated person’s information).

There’s a $2.50 service fee per letter to cover the cost of return mailing.

Don't send packages through TextBehind - they'll return them. For packages, contact Piedmont Correctional directly to learn what's allowed and how to send them.
