Mail & Letters
Pima County Jail processes incoming mail Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. All personal mail—incoming and outgoing—must go through U.S. Mail and is subject to search. Staff won't read it unless it's part of an investigation. Postcards can't be larger than 4.25 inches by 6 inches. They'll be rejected if defaced, wrapped in plastic, or if they include glitter, nudity, sexual content, weapons, or gang references. Incoming postcards get copied (digitally or photocopied), and the inmate receives the copy via tablet or on paper—not the original. Packages require prior permission at least five days before sending, and items sold through commissary can't be received. Legal mail must use pre-printed or metered postage envelopes and contain only loose paper (not stapled or bound).
