Picking Up Personal Property from Pima County Jail: Where, When, and What ID to Bring

Property releases and clothing exchanges are handled at the Property Release/Exchange window in the property area of the Main Jail Complex. That’s the specific window you’re looking for when you arrive to pick up belongings or complete an exchange.

For questions about a property release or exchange, call the Property Unit at (520) 351-8112. If anything about the process feels unclear (or you’re trying to avoid a wasted trip), this is the best number to use for current information.

If you need an alternate contact for the Main Jail, the Pima County Adult Detention Complex is located at 1270 W. Silverlake Road, Tucson, AZ 85713, and the main phone number is (520) 351-8111. For property-specific questions, you’ll still want to use the Property Unit line above when possible.

Accepted ID

  • Driver’s license
  • DES ID card
  • Arizona ID card
  • Military ID card
  • Passport

One published schedule lists property releases/exchanges at the Property Unit (Main Jail Complex, 1270 W. Silverlake Road) as available daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. If you’re planning around work or childcare, those extended hours can make a big difference - just confirm before you go.

Another published schedule says property pickup is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and that the property unit is closed on weekends and holidays. Because this version is more limited, it’s especially important not to assume weekend pickup is available.

Heads up: The jail has published two conflicting schedules - 7:00 am–10:00 pm daily vs. Monday–Friday 8:00 am–8:00 pm (closed weekends/holidays). Call (520) 351-8112 to confirm before you make the trip.

There’s a deadline: property that isn’t picked up within forty-five (45) days of the inmate’s transfer will be disposed of. If you’re getting close to that window or you’re not sure when the transfer date was, call (520) 351-8112 as soon as you can so you don’t miss the cutoff.
