What You Can't Do During a Video Visit at Pima County Jail (Rules That Can Get You Suspended)

Every personal (non-privileged) video visit at Pima County Jail is monitored and recorded by the Pima County Sheriff's Department and ViaPath Technologies. Keep that in mind when you talk. Make sure your behavior and your surroundings stay straightforward and rule-compliant.

What You Can't Do During a Video Visit at Pima County Jail (Rules That Can Get You Suspended)

Top Behaviors

  • Taking photos or video recordings of an inmate during the visit - photos and recordings of inmate(s) are prohibited.
  • Any nudity, self-stimulation, or sexual activity on either side of the screen - it’s prohibited, and violations can result in the visit being canceled, a 30-day suspension, and potentially being barred from future visitation (staff do not have to see explicit activity to impose restrictions).
  • Doing a video visit while a vehicle is in motion - this is not allowed, even if you’re only a passenger.
  • Trying to visit with multiple inmates - visitors may only visit with the scheduled inmate account holder. If you visit with anyone other than the scheduled account holder, a 30-day restriction can be placed on the visitor, and the inmates involved may face disciplinary action and/or a 15-day suspension per occurrence.

Break the rules and your visit gets canceled on the spot. Your visitor account will be suspended for 30 days. Depending on the violation, staff can ban you from future visits entirely. The person you're visiting faces consequences too. The jail may take additional action against them, so treat every session like it's being watched closely - because it is.

Checklist Practical

  • Stay fully visible and identifiable for the entire visit (and make sure the incarcerated person is, too) - if either of you can’t be identified, you’ll get a warning first, then the visit can be terminated and restrictions may be placed on the account(s).
  • Don’t cover the inmate tablet camera, and make sure the inmate tablet is placed on the NFC visit station for the full visit.
  • Keep the camera view steady and clear so you don’t accidentally trigger an “unable to identify” warning.
  • If you’re unsure whether you’re clearly on-screen, adjust your lighting and position before you start so you don’t lose time fixing it mid-visit.
