When Can Your Loved One Start Receiving Visits at Pima County Jail?

Your loved one can start receiving visits after two things happen: they've had their first court appearance, and they've been moved to a permanent housing unit. Until both boxes are checked, you won't be able to schedule a visit - even if you're ready to go.

When Can Your Loved One Start Receiving Visits at Pima County Jail?

All visits at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex are video visits. This applies whether you visit from home (remote/online) or come to the jail and use an on-site video kiosk. There are no in-person contact visits. Once your loved one clears both eligibility steps - first court appearance and permanent housing - you'll schedule through the video system.

  • Create a GettingOut account.
  • Download the GettingOut Visits mobile app on Android or iOS.

Remote video visits last up to 15 minutes and cost $0.25 per minute. On-site kiosk visits are longer - 30 minutes - and the jail provides one free on-site visit per inmate, per week. Additional 30-minute on-site visits cost $9.00 per inmate, per day.

  1. Schedule ahead for an on-site visit - On-site visitors have to schedule 1 to 7 days in advance; same-day walk-in visits aren’t accepted.
  2. Use the approved scheduling options - Schedule online at pimacountyaz.gtlvisitme.com or use the kiosk machine in the main entrance lobby.
  3. Arrive early with ID - Report to the Main Jail Front Desk at 1270 W. Silverlake Road 15 minutes before your scheduled time, and bring a valid photo ID.

Quick check: If you can’t schedule a visit yet, confirm your loved one has had their first court appearance and has been assigned to a permanent housing unit - that’s when visitation becomes available.

If they've already had their first court appearance and you believe they're in permanent housing but visitation still isn't available, reach out to the facility. Often the issue is just a delay in the system updating - staff can tell you exactly what's needed to move forward.
