Even with a timely request, approval isn't guaranteed. The Deputy Chief (or their designee) has to sign off, so plan for the possibility your request could be denied due to scheduling or other constraints.

How to Request Timing Authority

• ✓ Request a family/friend special visit at least 24 hours before the visit.
• ✓ For professional contact visits (like attorneys or investigating officers), request the visit 24 hours in advance by emailing the Sheriff’s Office for approval.
• ✓ In a professional contact visit request, include: the reason for the contact visit; the name(s) and profession of the visitor(s); the date and time requested; any items needed for the visit (for example, a laptop, CDs, or files); and the inmate’s name, date of birth, and ID number.

Once you submit your request, it goes to the Deputy Chief or a designee for approval. If you're juggling work, childcare, or travel, build in extra time - you won't have confirmation until that sign-off comes through.

Special visits have to fit within the jail's regular visitation structure. They can't interfere with scheduled public visitation, and they're only allowed during regular visiting hours. Public visitation runs Saturday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with visits scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. When requesting a special visit, think about adjusting within that window rather than asking for a completely separate time.

Keep the categories straight: special visits are for family and friends. Legal and professional contact visits are handled separately. Attorneys and investigating officers have access Monday through Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm under different rules - this doesn't change the public visitation schedule.
