What you can (and can't) mail to someone at Pinal County Jail — photos, books, money orders, and more
Mail rules at Pinal County Adult Detention Center are strict, but they're manageable once you know which address to use and follow the limits on photos and books. Use the checklists below to keep your mail from getting delayed, rejected, or sent back.
First, match what you're sending to the right mailing address - Pinal County uses different addresses depending on the type of mail. For personal mail from friends and family, the jail lists a new address effective January 11, 2026: address it to the incarcerated person's name and ID number, then "Pinal County Adult Detention Center, P.O. Box 20366, Tampa, Florida 33622." Legal mail, money orders, and publications shipped directly from a publisher, distributor, or authorized retailer go to a different address: "Inmate Full Name – Inmate ID, c/o Pinal County Sheriff's Office, P.O. Box 2610, Florence, AZ 85132." Addresses and vendor processing can change, so I recommend verifying the current mailing instructions with the facility before sending anything time-sensitive.
Sending money by mail? Money orders and checks go directly to inmate accounts. Only cashier, professional, state, or governmental checks are accepted - personal checks won't work. Double-check the address before mailing funds. The facility won't take responsibility for money orders sent to the wrong address, even if they try to recover them.
Always include your name and return address on the outside of the envelope. Without proper return information, your mail may get sent back instead of delivered.
Note: Legal mail needs a legible return address on the envelope exterior. If it isn’t readable, it may be subjected to search.
Photos are allowed, but the rules are tight. You can send up to ten photographs, and they must be 4x6 inches or smaller. Content matters: no pornographic or sexually explicit images, and anything showing gang signs or gang-related material can be denied.
- Choose up to 10 photos (4x6 or smaller) - keep the content clean (no sexually explicit or gang-related images).
- Add a stamped, self-addressed envelope - include it with the photos if you want them returned.
- Mail everything together - without that stamped, self-addressed envelope, you shouldn’t expect the photos to come back.
Books, magazines, and other publications must come directly from a publisher, distributor, or authorized retailer. If you order something, have it shipped straight from the seller - don't have it sent to you first and then forward it yourself.
Even when a book is allowed in, there's a limit on what can be kept in the housing area. Inmates can have up to three books plus one Bible in their cell at a time. If they're already at the limit, extra books may not be retained.
Envelope Handling and Prohibitions
- ✓ Expect stamps to be removed from envelopes and papers.
- ✓ Don’t include stickers or other adhesive items (they aren’t allowed).
Keeping it simple? Letters and drawings are both allowed. All incoming items are screened, so keep your envelope and contents free of anything that looks like an attachment - especially adhesives.
