How to Send Money to Facility
Sending money for phone use is straightforward once you pick the right account type. At this facility, phone accounts are funded through ConnectNetwork.
At this facility, phone funds go through ConnectNetwork (operated by Global Tel*Link). You'll be funding one of two account types: an AdvancePay prepaid phone account, which you set up to receive collect calls from an inmate, or the inmate's PIN Debit Account, which the inmate uses directly to place calls. Pick the right one before you start. The setup process is different for each.
Note: Fees, deposit limits, processing times, and cutoff times aren't covered here. Verify current rules with the facility or through ConnectNetwork before sending money.
- Decide which phone account you are funding. AdvancePay is a prepaid plan you set up to receive calls from the inmate. A PIN Debit Account is managed by the inmate and used to pay for calls placed from their account.
- Create your ConnectNetwork account. This is the platform used for deposits for the phone account types described here.
- Fund an AdvancePay prepaid phone account (family and friends). Use ConnectNetwork, or call ConnectNetwork toll-free at 1-800-483-8314 to set up a pre-pay phone plan and add funds.
- Fund an inmate’s PIN Debit Account. On ConnectNetwork, create an account, select “VA” as the state, then choose “Department of Corrections,” and follow the prompts.
- Enter the inmate’s 7-digit state ID number. You will need the inmate’s 7-digit state ID to complete a PIN Debit deposit (and it may be requested for other phone deposits as well).
- ✓ Confirm the inmate’s 7-digit state ID number.
- ✓ Have your payment method ready when setting up or funding through ConnectNetwork.
- ✓ If you are funding AdvancePay, have the phone/account details you want to fund, and be ready to call 1-800-483-8314 if you prefer to set it up by phone.
Before you submit a deposit, confirm the details that trip people up: fees, deposit limits, processing times, and which payment methods ConnectNetwork accepts for your account type. Policies change. Double-check that you're using the correct deposit path (PIN Debit vs. AdvancePay) and whether other deposit options exist for your situation. Don't assume anything about cutoffs or limits without verifying first.
- ✓ Confirm the inmate’s 7-digit state ID number.
- ✓ Confirm whether you should fund the inmate’s PIN Debit Account or an AdvancePay prepaid phone account, so you follow the correct ConnectNetwork setup.
