Bringing Children to a Redgranite Visit: Group Size, Supervision, and Diapering Rules

Redgranite caps each visit at 10 approved visitors total, with no more than five adults in the group. Bringing a mix of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and kids? Count heads before you leave the house. Showing up with too many people means someone won't get in.

Tip: Pick who’s attending before you go (and who’s sitting this one out). If your group arrives over the 10-person total or the five-adult cap, someone may have to leave.

At least one adult must be present if children are part of the visit. Kids can't attend on their own, so plan for an adult to stay with them the entire time.

In the visiting room, children age five or under may sit on the person in our care's (PIOC's) lap or be held. This helps little kids feel more comfortable - just keep things calm and avoid disrupting the room.

Safety rule: PIOCs may not place children on their shoulders or hold them in any manner considered unsafe or disruptive during the visit.

You're responsible for keeping the children you bring from being disruptive. Be ready to redirect a kid who's getting loud or restless, and step out with them if needed. Plan bathroom breaks ahead of time too - PIOCs aren't allowed to take children to the restroom, so a visitor has to handle those trips.

Diaper Breastfeeding

  • Change children’s diapers in the lobby restroom only.

Visiting with an infant? Mothers can breastfeed in a designated area of the visiting room. If you're not sure where that is, ask staff when you arrive so you can get settled without any confusion.
