Bringing Children to Visit at Redgranite: Group Size, Diaper Changes, and Supervision Rules

Your visiting group at Redgranite Correctional Institution can include up to 10 approved visitors total. Planning a big family visit? Count everyone who'll enter the visiting area so you don't accidentally exceed the limit.

There's also an adult cap within that group of 10: no more than five adults allowed. If you're bringing several children, you may need to decide which adults visit this time and which come another day.

At least one adult must be present in the visiting group. Even if the visit is mainly for children to see their parent, an adult needs to come in and stay responsible for them the entire time.

Diaper Rules and Bags

Diaper bags aren't allowed in the visiting area. Leave the full-size bag in the car and carry only what's permitted.

Diaper changes must happen in the lobby restroom only. Staff will direct you back out if you try to change a diaper in the visiting room.

Restroom rule: The person you’re visiting (PIOC) is not allowed to take children to the restroom during the visit.

Since the PIOC can't escort a child to the restroom, the adults in your group need to handle all supervision - including bathroom trips. That's why Redgranite requires at least one adult in every visiting party.

Practical Tips

  • Pack only what you’re allowed to bring for baby care, including no more than four diapers per child
  • Leave the diaper bag at home (diaper bags aren’t allowed in the visiting area)
  • Keep your group within the limit of 10 approved visitors total
  • Make sure you have no more than five adults in the group

Plan ahead: Bring an adult who can step out with a child if needed. PIOCs can't take children to the restroom, and at least one adult must remain in the visiting group.
