Understanding Redgranite's Visit Limits and Time Blocks (Weekly Caps, Weekend Rules, and Slot Lengths)
Redgranite has clear limits on how often you can visit and how long each visit lasts. Understanding the weekly cap, weekend restrictions (including holiday weekends), and the difference between daytime and evening time blocks makes planning visits much easier.
At Redgranite Correctional Institution (RGCI), general population persons in our care (PIOC) can receive up to three in-person visits per week. The visit week runs Monday through Sunday, so your count resets every Monday.
Those three visits need to fit within RGCI's scheduling rules. You book in-person visits through ICSolutions, and appointments must be made at least 48 hours ahead - but no more than 14 days in advance. No last-minute visits for tomorrow, and no locking in something weeks out. If you want to use all three visits in a single week, plan early enough to stay inside that 48-hour to 14-day window.
Even with a three-visit weekly cap, weekends are more restricted: only one in-person visit is allowed per weekend. Holidays can tighten this further. When a holiday falls next to a weekend, it counts as part of that weekend - meaning you still get just one visit for the entire three-day stretch.
Tip: If you’re hoping to visit on Saturday or Sunday, treat that as your “one shot” for the weekend - especially on holiday weekends - then build any other visits into weekdays.
RGCI organizes in-person visiting into time blocks, and the block you choose determines how long your visit can last. The morning/afternoon window runs 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with visits lasting up to 2 hours. The evening window runs 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., allowing visits up to 3 hours. A shorter daytime slot might work better if you're bringing kids, while the longer evening block is helpful if you're driving in after work.
- ✓ You won’t be allowed into the lobby until 10 minutes before the start of visiting hours.
- ✓ All in-person visits are subject to monitoring and recording.
- Count your visits by the Monday–Sunday week - You can use up to three visits total in that week, so keep track of what you’ve already scheduled.
- Protect the weekend slot - Only one visit can happen on a weekend, so don’t plan for both Saturday and Sunday in the same week.
- Plan around holiday weekends - If a holiday is connected to the weekend, it still counts as the weekend, and you only get one visit for the whole three-day stretch.
- Spread visits across weekdays when you can - If you want more than one visit in a week, weekdays are where you’ll have the flexibility to use the rest of the three-visit cap.
- ✓ Schedule the in-person visit through ICSolutions.
- ✓ Book at least 48 hours ahead and no more than 14 days in advance.
- ✓ Make sure you’re on the DOC-approved visitor list before you plan to go.
- ✓ If the PIOC tells you a Party ID is needed for scheduling, use the unique Party ID listed next to your name on the visiting list.
