Visiting Room Rules at Redgranite: Physical Contact, Seating, and Allowed Items

Excessive displays of affection aren't allowed at Redgranite. You and the person in custody can embrace and share a brief kiss at the start and end of your visit - but that's it. No other physical contact is permitted during the visit itself.

Stay seated throughout your visit and keep your posture in check - sit upright, elbows off the table, feet on the floor. The PIOC can only get up for a few specific reasons: taking photos, checking out games, or buying RGCI bakery items.

If the PIOC needs to use the restroom, the facility considers that a self-termination of the visit. In urgent situations, they may be allowed to use the restroom at MOS. Otherwise, they'll be sent back to their unit.

Bringing kids? Redgranite offers some flexibility for young children. The PIOC's children age five and under can sit on their lap or be held. What's not allowed: carrying a child on shoulders or in any way that's unsafe or disruptive. You're responsible for keeping children calm and quiet in the visiting room. If you're nursing, breastfeeding is permitted but only in a designated area.

Diaper changes: Change diapers in the lobby restroom only, and the PIOC is not allowed to take children to the restroom.

Items Purchases Games

  • Up to five (5) pictures taken by the institution photo project during the visit
  • One picture colored by the PIOC’s children during the visit
  • Nothing else may be taken out of the visiting room by the PIOC

Good news: you can take leftovers with you. Anything you buy from the visiting room vending machines or the RGCI bakery can leave with you when your visit ends.

  1. Have the PIOC check out the game using their lanyard - games are checked out by the PIOC, not the visitor.
  2. Wait while staff inspects the game before it’s issued - staff checks it before handing it out.
  3. Return the game for a second inspection - staff will inspect it again when it’s brought back.

No re-entry: If you leave the visiting room for any reason, you will not be allowed to re-enter for that visit.
