Who Can Visit at Redgranite: Group Size Limits and ID Requirements

Planning a visit to Redgranite Correctional Institution (RGCI)? Two things will make or break your day: group size limits and the ID check at the door. Here's what you need to know about how many people can come, who counts as an adult, and what to do if you don't have photo ID for religious reasons.

Who Can Visit at Redgranite: Group Size Limits and ID Requirements

RGCI allows up to 10 approved visitors per visit - but no more than five can be adults. That matters if you're bringing a larger family group. One more rule: at least one adult must be present. Minors can't visit on their own.

  • Up to 10 approved visitors total per visit
  • No more than 5 adults per visit
  • At least 1 adult must be present

Everyone age 16 or older needs photo ID to visit. This applies to every visitor in that age range, not just the person leading the group. Before you leave home, confirm that everyone 16+ has their ID. Forget one, and your whole group's plans could fall apart at the front desk.

  • Every visitor age 16+ needs photo ID to visit
  • Check that everyone in your group has their photo ID before you travel

RGCI accommodates Amish visitors who don't carry photo ID for religious reasons. Instead, they can provide a signed and notarized affidavit from their Bishop describing their physical characteristics. Since this is an exception to standard policy, get the affidavit sorted out well before your visit date.

Note: Photo ID is required for all visitors age 16 and up, but Amish visitors without photo ID can use a signed, notarized affidavit from their Bishop describing their physical characteristics.

Who Can Visit at Redgranite: Group Size Limits and ID Requirements
  1. Confirm everyone is approved - Only visitors on the DOC-approved visitor list can visit RGCI, so make sure every person you plan to bring is approved.
  2. Count your total headcount - Keep the group to 10 approved visitors or fewer for the visit.
  3. Count your adults separately - Within that group of 10, no more than five can be adults.

For group visits, I'd pick one organized adult to be the "anchor" - someone who can keep track of the plan and make sure everyone has what they need. The two things that most often derail visits are approval and ID: every visitor must be on the DOC-approved list, and everyone 16+ needs photo ID. If you're coordinating multiple households, double-check your adult count. It's easy to accidentally exceed the five-adult maximum when relatives arrive separately.

Timing tip: RGCI does not allow visitors into the lobby until 10 minutes before visiting hours start, so plan your group’s meetup accordingly.
