Your First Visit to RMC Work Camp: What to Bring and What to Leave Behind

Wait until the inmate confirms your visitation application has been approved before making the trip. Showing up without approval means you won't get in - no matter how far you drove. If you're 16 or older, bring a valid photo ID. Make sure it's current and matches the name on your visitation paperwork. This is one of the fastest ways to avoid problems at check-in.

Want snacks or drinks during your visit? Bring cash for the vending machines. Each visitor - any age - can bring up to $50 total, but only in $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills. Other denominations can hold you up at the door. This cash is for vending machines only, not for giving to your loved one.

Remember: You can't give money to an inmate during visitation. Bring only what you'll use at the vending machines - up to $50 in approved bills.

Baby Supplies

  • Up to five (5) diapers
  • Three (3) clear baby bottles
  • Two (2) toddler sipper cups
  • Three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food

You'll be searched before entering. This applies to you and anything you bring, so keep your pockets and bags simple to speed things along. Refusing a search means no visit - and it can affect your future visiting privileges too. If you're unsure about an item, leave it in the car.

Plan for screening: If you won’t submit to a search, you won’t be allowed to visit, and future visiting privileges may be impacted.

Previsit Checklist

  • Don’t go until the inmate tells you your visitation application is approved
  • If you’re 16 or older, bring a valid photo ID
  • Bring cash for vending only: up to $50 per visitor, and only $1/$5/$10/$20 bills
  • Do not give money to an inmate
  • If visiting with an infant, keep baby items within limits (5 diapers; 3 clear bottles; 2 sipper cups; 3 sealed clear plastic jars of baby food)
  • Wear a shirt and shoes
  • Leave Heelys and any shoes with removable parts at home
  • Expect a search of you and your belongings; refusing a search means the visit will be denied and may affect future visits

RMC Work Camp has a basic dress code that catches people off guard: shirts and shoes are required. Footwear rules are specific - no Heelys, and no shoes with removable parts. When in doubt, go with the simplest, most standard pair you own.
