Roederer Dress Code: What Staff Will Turn You Away For (And How to Fix It Before You Arrive)
Roederer Corrections Complex expects visitors to dress modestly. Show up in something that's out of policy, and you'll be turned away. It's worth checking the common problem areas before you leave home.
Plan on modest clothing that fits a correctional environment. If staff consider your outfit revealing, see-through, or overly tight, you risk being denied entry. That's true even if you drove hours to get there.
Start with the basics that get checked most often. Wear appropriate undergarments and make sure they're not visible, including when you sit, bend, or reach. Pick a shirt that fully covers your shoulders, cleavage, and midriff. Don't rely on a jacket or your posture to "make it work." Footwear is required at all times, so bare feet are a non-starter.
Do not wear graphic or gang-related clothing: Anything with obscene language or images, gang-related insignia, or content that is offensive, derogatory, or disruptive is prohibited.
Length matters for bottoms. Shorts, dresses, and skirts are prohibited if they fall more than 2 inches above the knee when you're standing. If you're close to that line, go longer. Staff will judge how it fits on your body, not how it looks on a hanger.
- ✓ Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, or any sleeveless shirts
- ✓ Spandex, leggings, or yoga pants when they are the outermost garment (they are only permitted underneath a skirt, dress, or pants that meets the length requirements)
Leave head coverings at home. Hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, and hoods are all prohibited. Religious head coverings are permitted, but expect them to be subject to search.
Even if you think your outfit fits the rules, the final call belongs to the facility. Roederer staff have sole discretion over whether clothing complies with the dress code. Play it safe and avoid "borderline" choices that depend on interpretation.
- Expect staff to screen your outfit. If they believe something violates the dress code, they can stop you from proceeding.
- Fix it on the spot if you can. Visitors in violation are given an opportunity to correct the issue when possible, like changing clothes or covering up.
- Plan for the possibility of being turned away. If the issue cannot be corrected, you will be denied entry for that visit.
Packing Tips
- ✓ Choose modest, correctional-appropriate clothes, not anything revealing, see-through, or excessively tight-fitting
- ✓ Wear appropriate undergarments and double-check they are not visible
- ✓ Pick a shirt that fully covers shoulders, cleavage, and midriff
- ✓ Avoid shorts, dresses, or skirts that land more than 2 inches above the knee when standing
- ✓ Skip tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, and any sleeveless shirts
- ✓ Do not rely on leggings, yoga pants, or spandex as your outermost layer (only wear them under a compliant skirt, dress, or pants)
- ✓ Wear shoes (bare feet are not permitted)
Reminder: Staff make the final call on whether your clothing complies. You may be asked to change or cover up to fix a problem. If it can't be corrected, you'll be denied entry.
