How Attorneys Use the Kentucky Legal Mail Portal (LMP) for Ross Cash Center Inmates
If you represent someone housed at Ross-Cash Center, the Kentucky Legal Mail Portal (LMP) is how you register and get verified so your legal mail is properly flagged. Here's what you'll need for registration, verification, and safe handling.
To get started, open a web browser and go to the Kentucky Legal Mail Portal page for Ross-Cash Center (facility/jail ID 2516). Click "Create Account" to begin your registration.
Account Documents
- ✓ Proof of licensure in good standing from any jurisdiction (upload an image or PDF from your Bar Association)
During setup, you'll need to verify a phone number. The portal gives you two options: text message or phone call. Pick whichever works best for your office.
Once your account is reviewed and approved, your status changes to "verified." You'll also receive a Mail ID Number, which begins with a letter.
By registering for the Kentucky Department of Corrections' Legal Mail Portal, you're agreeing to the portal's Notice and Rules. Those rules cover risks and the precautions expected for attorney mail. Read them closely before you start using the system for client correspondence.
Safe practice: Never hand your envelope to a third party (including a client's family) to mail. Seal it yourself or have trusted staff do it, then place it directly into the mail stream without delay.
Your Legal Mail Portal password needs to meet three requirements: at least 8 characters, at least 1 lowercase letter, and at least 1 number.
