How to Visit Facility
Visiting at this facility is doable once you understand three things: you need to be on the approved visiting list, visits happen on specific days depending on housing type, and everyone goes through security screening on arrival.
To get approved, the inmate needs to submit a visiting list with your information. That list must include your full name, address, phone number, Social Security number, and date of birth. Once submitted, the list goes to the Hawaii Department of Public Safety for an NCIC check. If this is your first visit, give yourself time for the approval process before booking travel or showing up.
There are two limits to keep straight. An inmate can have up to 10 visitors total on their approved visitation list, and that count includes both adults and minors. But even if more people are approved, only six can visit at the same time. If your group is larger, plan to split up so you stay within the six-person limit.
On-site visitation days depend on the inmate's status. General population visits happen Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Tuesday is reserved for special management inmates (Segregation, SHIP, and P.C.). For Hawaii video visitation, appointment times are taken on Saturdays from 8:00am to 2:00pm. The on-site schedule and video appointment window are separate, so make sure you're following the right one for the type of visit you're planning.
Expect airport-style screening when you arrive. You'll need to remove your shoes and belt and clear a metal detector before entering the visitation area. If you have a medical condition that prevents metal-detector screening, there is an exception process. Also be ready for vehicle screening. Saguaro Correctional Center conducts random vehicle searches. If you refuse a search, you won't be allowed on facility grounds.
Note: If the inmate is connected to Idaho or Montana, video visitation scheduling requires an account through ICSolutions.
Steps to Follow
- ✓ Make sure the inmate submitted your full name, address, phone number, Social Security number, and date of birth on the visiting list for the Hawaii Department of Public Safety NCIC check.
- ✓ Confirm you are on the inmate’s approved visitation list (maximum of 10 visitors total, including adults and minors).
- ✓ Plan your group size for the actual visit (no more than six people can visit at the same time).
- ✓ For on-site visits, plan around the schedule: general population visits are Friday through Monday; Tuesday is reserved for Special Management (Segregation, SHIP, and P.C.).
- ✓ For Hawaii video visits, use the appointment window on Saturday from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
- ✓ If Idaho or Montana video visitation applies to your situation, create an account through ICSolutions to schedule.
- ✓ Be ready to remove your shoes and belt, then clear the metal detector before entering the visitation area.
- ✓ If a medical condition prevents standard metal-detector screening, ask about the exception process before you arrive.
- ✓ Know that random vehicle searches can happen, and refusing a search means you will not be allowed on facility grounds.
Before you count on a visit happening, confirm the approval details with the facility or the inmate. The visiting list should include your full name, address, phone number, Social Security number, and date of birth, and it gets sent to the Hawaii Department of Public Safety for an NCIC check. If any of your information is missing or outdated, that can slow things down.
Double-check the limits that affect planning, especially if you're coordinating a family visit. The approved visitation list can include up to 10 people total (adults and minors), but only six may visit at the same time. Also verify which schedule applies. On-site visitation for general population runs Friday through Monday, with Tuesday reserved for Special Management (Segregation, SHIP, and P.C.). If you're doing Hawaii video visitation, appointment times are taken on Saturday from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
If you're scheduling a video visit connected to Idaho or Montana, confirm that you've set up the required ICSolutions account. It also helps to know what to expect at the gate before you drive out. You'll need to remove your shoes and belt and clear a metal detector to enter the visitation area (there's an exception process for medical restrictions). Random vehicle searches are conducted, and refusing a search means you won't be allowed on facility grounds.
