Saline County Jail runs all visits through Smart Communications' SmartInmate system—every visit is video-based. Once you know that, setup comes down to creating your account and booking a slot during the jail's visiting hours.

Setting Up Your First SmartInmate Video Visit at Saline County Jail

Saline County Jail uses Smart Communications (SmartInmate) for remote video visitation. You'll schedule and connect through the SmartInmate system - there are no traditional face-to-face visits here. All visits at this jail are video visits. Even "onsite" visits happen through a screen, not in-person contact.

  1. Go to the SmartInmate site and start your account - Saline County Jail directs visitors to create an account on SmartInmate to get started with remote video visitation.
  2. Complete signup - SmartInmate advertises that signing up is quick, easy, and free.
  3. Log in and get ready to schedule - Once your account is created, you’ll use it to set up video visit times.

Saline County offers two types of visits: onsite video and remote video. Onsite hours run Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Remote visits have wider windows - Sunday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Need to fit a visit in before work or school? That 9:00–11:00 AM slot is only available for remote visits, not onsite.

Note: People in custody are allowed 2 onsite visits per week. Remote visits are unlimited unless it interferes with allowing other inmates visits, so prime-time slots may be harder to grab when demand is high.
