For on-site visits, you must be 18 or older and present a valid, undamaged photo ID. Expired IDs won't work. Neither will anything taped together or cracked - staff will turn you away.

If you’re bringing a child, plan ahead: children may visit only when they’re with a parent or guardian. Unaccompanied children aren’t allowed in the visitation center or the jail front lobby.

Permitted Vs Prohibited Items

  • Keys
  • Cellphone
  • Wallet
  • Personal bag
  • Items for the care of an infant or young child
  • Personal ID

Anything not on the permitted list is considered prohibited. Here's the catch: the facility no longer stores personal items for you. Bring something you shouldn't, and you'll have to walk it back to your car before continuing.

Leave photographs and writing materials in the car. No notebooks, pens, or pencils allowed - and since staff won't hold them for you, bringing them just means an extra trip back to your vehicle.

The dress code is enforced. Skip miniskirts, short shorts, halter tops, spaghetti straps, tank tops, and muscle shirts. See-through clothing, tops showing cleavage or midriff, and anything with improper messages or images will get you turned away. No bare feet either.

You can bring your cellphone into the visitation area, but don't use it or even display it during your visit. Violate this rule and Sarasota County Jail can suspend your visitation privileges.
