How to Send Money to an Inmate in Pennsylvania Prisons (JPay: card, money order, cash)
Sending money to someone in a Pennsylvania state prison goes through JPay. Here's what you need to know about limits and options for card deposits, mailed money orders, and cash walk-ins.
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections uses JPay for all inmate deposits. One thing to know: deposits aren't anonymous. JPay shares your name with the Department of Corrections for every transaction, so your name will be tied to the payment.
Adding funds by credit or debit card? JPay limits each card to $300 every 72 hours. If you try to send more than that within that window, your transaction will be blocked.
To send a money order through JPay for a Pennsylvania inmate, mail it to: JPay, 717 Market Street, Ste. 423, Lemoyne, PA 17043. Fill out the deposit slip carefully so JPay can match it to the right person.
The maximum for a single money order is $999.99.
Need to send more than $999.99? You can split the amount across multiple money orders. Just keep each one at or below the $999.99 limit.
Help: If you need help completing a JPay money order form or have questions about money orders, call JPay toll-free at 800-574-5729 (24/7).
For cash walk-ins through MoneyGram, you can send up to $5,000 per transaction.
Help: If you have questions about sending funds, JPay support can help. Call 800-574-5729 (24/7).
Once JPay posts funds to the inmate's account, they'll be notified. The inmate gets an individual receipt showing they received money.
Inmates also receive a monthly statement listing all transactions from their account. This helps them confirm deposits and track spending over time.
