Visiting Day Checklist for SCI Huntingdon: Vehicle, Security Screening, and What to Expect
A smooth visit at SCI Huntingdon starts before you leave home. Use this checklist to prep your vehicle, know what to expect at screening, and avoid mistakes that could cost you visiting privileges.
Got questions about rules, logistics, or anything that might affect your entry? Contact the facility directly before you travel. You can also email the Pennsylvania DOC Central Office at ra-crdocinmatevss@pa.gov for help.
Don’t bring someone along “just to wait in the car” unless they’re actually visiting. SCI Huntingdon has no waiting area, and anyone who isn’t visiting must exit the facility grounds - so arrange your ride, childcare, and companions with that in mind.
Vehicle Prep
- ✓ Lock your vehicle while on prison property.
- ✓ Roll up/close all windows.
- ✓ Secure any equipment (for example, ladders and toolboxes) before you park.
- ✓ Be ready for the possibility of a vehicle search while you’re on prison property.
Expect screening every time. At SCI Huntingdon, every visitor - regardless of age - goes through a search and must pass through a metal detector. Build in extra time and keep your group organized so you're not scrambling at the door.
Reminder: Everyone gets screened at SCI Huntingdon. That includes searches for every visitor (no matter the visitor’s age) and going through a metal detector before entry.
Take the visiting rules seriously. Any violation can result in suspended visiting privileges. Follow posted rules and staff instructions from the moment you arrive until you leave.
