What to Expect When You Arrive for a Visit: SCI Huntingdon's Check-In and Security Procedures

Before Leave

• ✓ Lock your vehicle while you’re on prison property.

• ✓ Roll up/close all vehicle windows before you head in.

• ✓ Secure any equipment in your vehicle (for example, ladders and toolboxes) so it’s not loose or easily accessible.

All visitor vehicles are subject to search while on SCI Huntingdon property. This catches some people off guard, but knowing ahead of time helps you avoid delays - and keeps your visit from starting on a frustrating note.

Everyone goes through security screening at SCI Huntingdon - no exceptions. Children and older family members are screened the same way as everyone else. If you're visiting as a group, give everyone a heads-up so no one is caught off guard.

1. Be ready to go through the metal detector - All visitors must pass through a metal detector.
2. Keep the line moving - Follow staff instructions and be prepared to pause if the detector alerts so you can try again as directed.

There's no waiting area for people who aren't visiting. If someone drives you but can't enter the visiting room, they can't hang around on facility grounds - they'll need to leave and come back.

• ✓ If you need a ride, plan for the driver to drop you off and leave instead of staying on the grounds.
