When Your SCORE Visit Gets Canceled: Lockdowns, rescheduling, and what to expect
A canceled visit is frustrating, especially when you planned your whole day around it. At SCORE, cancellations usually come down to safety, security, or an inmate's disciplinary status. Knowing the difference helps you reschedule faster.
SCORE can temporarily cancel visiting privileges when the administration decides it’s necessary for the safety and security of the facility. That can mean visits pause even if you followed every rule and had a time slot booked.
Disciplinary lockdown is another common reason. If the person you're visiting is on disciplinary lockdown, they lose visitation privileges. That means a visit you already scheduled can get canceled because they're simply not eligible during that period.
When SCORE cancels your visit because of a facility-initiated lockdown, you'll get an email notification. Make sure to check the email address you used when you registered and scheduled the visit, since that's where the cancellation notice goes.
Good news: If SCORE initiates the lockdown cancellation, the canceled visit does not count as your weekly visit.
SCORE handles all visits online through Securus. If your visit is canceled due to a facility-initiated lockdown, it won't be automatically rescheduled, even though you'll get an email about it. You need to go back into Securus and book a new time slot yourself at https://securustech.net/.
- Sign in to Securus: Use the account you registered with for SCORE visitation.
- Find the inmate profile: Select the person you’re trying to visit so you’re scheduling under the correct listing.
- Choose a new visit time: Pick an available slot for a future date.
- Confirm the appointment: Finish the scheduling process so the new visit shows as scheduled in your account.
Tip: Read the cancellation email carefully before you reschedule. It can tell you whether the cancellation was facility-wide or tied to the inmate's current status.
If the cancellation is tied to disciplinary lockdown, the problem isn't the schedule. It's eligibility. Inmates on disciplinary lockdown lose visitation privileges, and SCORE administration can keep those privileges suspended as long as safety and security require it. In that situation, you won't be able to successfully book a new visit until visitation privileges are restored.
Once the disciplinary restriction ends, confirm that visits can be scheduled again before spending time trying to rebook. Your quickest option is to check Securus for available time slots after the status change, then schedule your next visit from there.
