Mailroom staff scan both sides of your envelope and everything inside - letters, greeting cards, photographs - all in color. Those scans become PDF images uploaded to your loved one's Bulletin Board on their tablet. They'll get a notification when new mail arrives and can download and view what you sent. The original paper stays with the facility.

All non-privileged mail - incoming and outgoing - gets opened and checked for contraband before scanning or delivery. This is standard procedure at Sheridan.
