Setting Up Video Visits with Someone at South Central: Remote vs. On-Site Options

Video visitation at South Central runs through Securus Technologies, the department's contracted provider.

You have two options: on-site video visits or remote video visits. On-site visits happen at the facility using Securus equipment - they're no-contact, but they're free. Remote visits let you connect from your own device at home. You'll pay for remote visits, but you won't need to travel.

On-site visits are scheduled through Securus. When you go to book, the system shows available time slots so you can pick what works.

Remote video visits cost $7.95 for a 30-minute session.

Plan ahead - approved visitors must schedule video visits through Securus at least 72 hours in advance. If you can't find an available time, that scheduling window is usually why.

Need to cancel? Do it at least 48 hours before the visit to get credit. If the department cancels on their end, you won't be charged and you'll get a notification through Securus.

Video visits aren't automatically available to everyone. You must be at least 18 years old and on the resident's approved visitor list.

You'll need a Securus Technologies account to schedule and join video visits at South Central.

Treat a video visit like an in-person visit - it's monitored the same way. All video visits are recorded, and staff watch them to make sure everyone follows facility rules.

Prohibited conduct can cost you more than one visit. Video visiting privileges can be suspended or terminated entirely. In some cases, in-person visiting privileges can be revoked too. Keep things calm and appropriate every time you log on.
